How do I choose a distributor?
A fellow artist Ari Herstand wrote an incredible piece detailing the ins and outs of choosing a distributor. Read that HERE.

Here are my own considerations:
  • When choosing a distribution partner consider the unique value that each option offers.
  • A lot of distributors do exactly the same thing and don't differentiate themselves from the pack. If you are considering multiple options that all do the same thing I'd generally encourage you to go for the cheapest option. This is assuming none offer unique value.
  • I would avoid distributors who take a commission from your earnings unless they can offer some significant placement, feature, or promotion opportunities.
  • If you need to do splits with a producer, co-writer, bandmates, etc... then look into Distrokid or Stem.is.
  • Usually distributors don't offer much value to independent artists with small audiences. Such artists lack leverage and likely won't be given much attention.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RECORD A SONG?
Every project is unique. The needs, scope of work, and costs vary project to project. Tell me more about your project HERE and I will send you a quote.
Do I need a producer?
Answer these YES or NO questions:
  • Have you already arranged and written all the parts for your songs?
  • Do you have a clear vision for how you want your song to turn out and feel confident enough to communicate that clearly to everyone involved?
  • Are you good at starting and finishing things?
  • Do you NOT need or desire more creative input on your songs?

If you answered YES to every one or most of these questions you might not need a producer. If you mostly answered NO then you probably need a producer.
